LOS ANGELES, CA– Darcy Keumper returned from injury and helped The Kings defeat the Wild, 4-1.
After missing the last eight games due to injury, Darcy Keumper returned in a big way for the Kings.
Keumper saved 22 of the 23 shot attempts, which resulted in a .957 save percentage. This is the third-highest rating Keumper has recorded this season.
While Keumper was effective in his return, the Kings showcased their depth in this matchup.
“You can’t have a couple guys getting momentum while everyone else is hanging on, “Keumper said.“We feel we have as good of depth as anybody.”
The defensive performance was a team effort for the Kings. Los Angeles held Minnesota scoreless for the first 58 minutes of the game.
To compliment the defense, the offense generated 34 shots. This was 11 more attempts than the Wild.
Los Angeles capitalized on one of their two power play opportunities. Alex Laferriere scored the power-play goal to give the Kings a two-goal lead.
Adrian Kempe and Trevor Moore led all skaters with two points each. Kempe collected a goal and an assist. While, Moore scored the final two goals on an empty net.
Despite the loss, the Wild was able to avoid a shutout with a goal from Yakov Trenin. Zach Bogosian and John Merrill both received an assist on the goal.
The Kings have won five straight games while defeating the top three teams in the Central Division. While Los Angeles is the hottest team in the league, their gauntlet of a schedule continues.
A seven-game road trip awaits the Kings as they head to New York on Tuesday. The Kings will try to extend their winning streak to six games against the Islanders.
