The Kings lose to the Avalanche 8-4 in Peter Laviolette’s debut. Dumoulin, Armia, Moore and Panarin scored, two of them shorthanded, but Colorado’s four power-play goals and MacKinnon’s two goals and fight decided it. Kuemper made 21 saves; next up is Saturday at San Jose.
