INGLEWOOD, Calif.- – — Amir Coffey scored 21 points of the bench to help the Clippers rally from 26-points down against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night.

The 113-104 win for the Clippers was the team’s first win in their brand new arena, the Intuit Dome.

Coffey energized the Clippers after the team fell behind 40-14 after the first quarter.

His shot-making and extra effort plays sparked the Clippers. He was a big part of the Clippers 36-14 advantage in the second quarter.

The Clippers went on a 33-9 run during a nine-minute span late in the third quarter until the four-minute mark of the fourth. Guard Norman Powell’s 3-pointer with 7:25 remaining gave LA its first lead at 93-91.

Powell led the Clippers in scoring by adding 23 points. His sixth straight game scoring 20+ points in a game.

The Spurs young superstar Victor Wembanyama had 24 points, 13 rebounds and nine blocked shots for the Spurs, who was without coach Gregg Popovich who was not on the bench due to illness. Julian Champagnie added 21 points in a losing effort.

Up next for the Clippers is a matchup against Paul George & the Philadelphia 76er. It will be George’s return against his former team.
