Powell’s 30 points and a dominant second half helps the Clippers top the Trail Blazers 127-105

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — — Norman Powell scored 20 of his 30 points in the first half but it was a second half surge that helps the Clippers blowout the Portland Trail Blazers 127-105 on Tuesday night.

Powell has scored 25 or more points in back to back games since his return from injury.

James Harden added 23 points and seven assists. Harden hit a buzzer beating 3 to end the third quarter which helped him pass LA legend Paul Pierce for 17th on the all-time scoring list.

The Clippers had five players score 14 or more points in the blowout win.

Los Angeles led the Trail Blazers 63-58 at the half with the game looking eerily similar to the October 30th matchup won by Portland.

This time the Clippers made sure to put the Trail Blazers away by controlling the second half from the jump. They only allowed 20 points in the third quarter and never let up defensively.

The Trail Blazers overcame an early double-digit deficit to cut the Clippers’ lead to 72-70 with 6:05 remaining in the third quarter, but the Clippers went on a 34-10 run to turn it into a blowout.

With this win the Clippers have now won nine consecutive games at home.

The only negative on the night for Los Angeles was that guard Terance Mann left in the third quarter with a fractured left middle finger.

The Clippers look to push their home win streak to double figures tonight with a matchup with Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
